BUBBA
burger® breaks ground
on $2.7M Expansion
11/04/2009

View Video "Bubba Foods Expanding"
"It's time to start digging!"
With those words, Hickory Foods CEO William Morris led a crew of dignitaries in the ground breaking of the $2.7 million Bubba Foods Expansion recently at Elberton Industrial Park.
Approximately 50 people were on hand for the ground breaking; the first shovel going to the founder, and inventor of the BUBBA burger, Walter "Bubba" Eaves.
"Bubba started making the BUBBA burger about 15 years ago," Morris recalled. "He had the support of his family and friends, and he got the BUBBA burger going."
Ceremonial Shovels were also presented to Morris' business partner Steve Coon, Plant Manager Tom Steele, Mayor Larry Guest, Commission Member Horace Harper, and Erik Gunderson, of Primus Construction, the general contractor of the 50,000 square foot addition.
"This expansion will not only meet the demands of our product," Morris explained, "but it will also allow us to be more efficient in what we do."
Morris said that while Elberton at first appeared to be "just a spot on a map," the commitment of the people of Elberton and Elbert County made the decision to stay easy.
"This community has been good to me; it's been good to my associates," Morris said, "and this is a tangible way to invest in the community, and we're delighted to do that."
The project is scheduled to take six months to complete - just in time for BUBBA burger's busiest time of the year. At that time, thirty people will be hired to help produce the nation's number-one selling burger.

BUBBA Goes Back 2 School.
You know BUBBA believes in the three Rs: reading, writing and 100% real beef. And BUBBA brought some sensational sizzle to the North Florida Back 2 School Fest at Jacksonville Landing.
As a signature sponsor of the event, BUBBA and 30 other organizations, including Walmart, helped distribute 150,000 school supplies to an estimated 10,000 area students.
BUBBA’s Jalapeno Burger mascot joined the Jacksonville Jaguars Cheerleaders, local models, stilt walkers, singers and bands to entertain the crowds during the day-long event.
Hit the books this year kids and don’t forget to tell Mom you want to have BUBBA over for dinner tonight.

What People are Saying
Burger Love
Now while I know I have dedicated this blog to Natural Cooking and most of you will scoff at the idea of frozen food I have fallen in love with a brand of burgers called Bubba burgers (and in my defense they are made with 100% ground USDA choice chuck). I've only ever tried the original but they are the most delicious juicy frozen hamburgers I have ever eaten.

Our grill is probably the most popular of the stations in Davison Hall, and so we’ve decided to give you even more reason to get in line…and it’s a good one. We’ve introduced the Bubba Burger with all its natural goodness. Imagine…a burger that’s actually made of beef burger! 100% "Certified Angus Beef®" Chuck, to be specific. And with the "Certified Angus Beef®" Seal of Approval, the Bubba Burger also won "Nation’s Best New Beef Product Marketed by a small company." So if you’re going to eat a burger, why not make it this award winning Bubba Burger.

I generally despise frozen hamburgers, but for some reason my wife insists on buying them every time we have a barbecue. For Memorial Day, I insisted that she let me get chop meat and make some decent hamburgers, ...
